3. Features

YG Entertainment is a multinational idol group consisting of South Koreans Jisoo and Jennie, Thai Lisa, and multi-national Rose from South Korea and New Zealand.

They are the first and only YG Entertainment group without a leader. The four members are friends, so they didn’t choose a leader because they didn’t think it was necessary.

3-1. Team Name

The group name BLACKPINK is said to have a reversed meaning of “don’t just look at the pretty” and “what you see is not what you get” by adding the meaning of negating “pink”, the prettiest color, with “black”. The songs they release are also in line with the meaning of their name.

Before their debut, they were known as PINKPUNK, and there were rumours among fans that their name was “TLC-F”. At the time, the team name was shortened by fans to TLC. The name “Magnum” was also on the shortlist before it was finalised. The name was also suggested by junior girl group BABYMONSTER.
